Clinical Screening using fluorescence microscopy is popular in many laboratories such as Pathology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Immunology, Cytology, Histology, Virology, Molecular Biology and Hematology. Typical tests are for fungal mycelium, Anti-nuclear Antibodies (ANCA), Trichomonas vaginalis, acid fast bacilli (AFBs), RSV, para-influenza and tuberculosis (TB). Most fluorescence screening uses popular fluorescent stains (fluorophores) such as Auramine, Acridine Orange, Calcofluor White, Fluorescein Isothiocyanate (FITC) and GFP.
